2025 Louisiana Remote Sensing & GIS Workshop + Student Poster Competition

The 37th Annual LARSGIS Workshop will be held May 6-8, 2025, in Baton Rouge, LA.

Please begin planning to participate in and attend this year’s Workshop!

The workshop will include an opening keynote speaker, two days of educational presentations and panel discussions, a student poster contest, a vendor exhibit area, and the award ceremony for the Distinguished Service Award for the Advancement of Spatial Analysis in Louisiana and the Louisiana Special Achievement Award in Remote Sensing and GIS.

You will be able to meet and network with members from the Louisiana geospatial community and surrounding regions.

Please plan to attend this workshop, learn about Louisiana remote sensing and GIS endeavors, and earn credit for your GIS Professional (GISP) certification.

Student Poster Competition!

Students are encouraged to submit posters of their original work from class projects, thesis or dissertation work, or individual research.

Guidelines:

  • Posters should clearly define a project that incorporates spatial science and technology.
  • Students may submit one poster for the competition.
  • Your poster must not have been presented at another conference, workshop, or meeting.
  • Students must bring a printed copy for display at the workshop.
  • Posters should be no larger than 40" x 60".
  • Presenters will have an easel, foam core board, and clips.
  • All poster presenters must be registered before the poster is displayed.
  • Abstracts and a digital poster must be submitted by midnight on April 7, 2025.
  • Students will be notified by email of poster acceptance. Space may limit acceptance.

Judging and Awards:

  • Posters will be judged on scientific and technical merit, compelling design and use of cartographic principles, & overall impression/quality of work.
  • Student posters will be judged by a panel of experienced spatial technology specialists during the LA RSGIS workshop.
  • Students must be present during judging to answer questions.
  • Cash prizes will be awarded: $200 First, $100 Second, $50 Third place poster.
  • Contest winners will be announced during the awards ceremony.
