What is GEOSERVICE? 

GEOscience Students Excelling in Real, Vital Investigations with Community Engagement 

What will we do? 

  • Learn how satellite imagery/monitoring is used for managing resources, the environment, and Earth Observation. 
  • Explore UHI effects in Lafayette communities, Redfish decline in Louisiana marshes, NASA STELLA development, and capabilities of the NASA TerraROVER. 
  • Visit the UL Lafayette Science Museum to learn about fossils, the Earth as Art puzzle competition, and view planetary exhibits. 
  • Get a chance to pet a real alligator with Swamp Base and visit the USGS Wetlands and Aquatic Research Center. 
  • Fly NASA AEROKATS kites, drones, and other instruments to gather real-time data. 
  • Learn how a stream table mimics deltaic formations along Louisiana’s coast. 
  • And more! 

 

Who can apply? 

Applicants should be between 8th-12th grade and in good standing with their school.

9:00 am – 3:30 pm 

Monday – Thursday (June 23-26) 

Lunch provided 

Provide own transportation
