On August 18, 2017, Congressman Clay Higgins visited Abdalla Hall in the UL Lafayette Research Park to learn about the research programs at the university and tour the LABEOC. Members of the Informatics Research Institute shared the latest tools and technologies in emergency management and discussed the role of LABEOC in support of GOHSEP as the only university-led BEOC in the nation. In addition, Congressman Higgins was briefed on the mission of the NASA Regional Application Center as a key regional resource for satellite-based disaster surveillance and mapping of disaster impact and consequences.
