On June 3, Courtney Poirier Chicola, PhD, a RAC/Louisiana postdoctoral researcher was a guest lecturer at the BASF Tech Academy, a week-long educational and workforce development program for students hosted at the River Parishes Community College (RPCC). She discussed image classification in remote sensing, followed by a talk on drone technology and applications by BASF employee Philip Reyes, P.E.

During the session, the students learned about the basics of remote sensing, and different image classification techniques. The academy also hosted a hands-on tutorial with MultiSpec - a processing system for interactively analyzing Earth's observational multispectral image data (source: © Purdue Research Foundation).
